Upgrades to our product suite will empower cross-department collaboration, simplify workflows, and enhance citizen engagement

At OPEXUS, we understand the critical role government professionals play in fostering transparency, ensuring accountability, and building public trust in our institutions. We believe they deserve technology that makes their work easier, not harder.

That’s why we’ve built the OPEXUS platform with end users at the forefront of every decision. Today, we’re proud to say that nearly 80% of federal government agencies rely on OPEXUS’s case management technology. Our solutions are purpose-built for their needs, designed to simplify their processes and amplify their impact.

At our recent Annual Summit, OPEXUS CEO Howard Langsam outlined an ambitious five-year vision for the OPEXUS product suite, shaped by hundreds of conversations with our customers. This bold plan leverages smarter collaboration, greater transparency, and intelligent design.

In 2025, we’re taking significant strides to fulfill this vision. We are rolling out exciting product updates that streamline workflows, break down silos, and empower agencies to deliver faster, more impactful results.

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming in the new year.

FOIAXpress: Bringing Clarity to Complexity

Our FOIAXpress tool is a trusted solution for the majority of federal government agencies. In 2025, it’s getting smarter, more collaborative, and even more user-friendly.

Redactions directly in the FOIAXpress Collaboration Portal

The FOIAXpress Collaboration Portal allows individuals without direct access to FOIAXpress to find responsive documents and work with agency FOIA officers on requests. This enables seamless collaboration for reviewing, managing, and approving documents necessary to fulfill FOIA requests. Until now, users had to leave the portal to perform redactions; in 2025, that’s changing.

We have rolled out redaction tools that you can access directly in the Collaboration Portal. Let’s say you received a set of documents in the portal from someone in your agency—in the portal, you’ll now be able to review, redact confidential information, and immediately send the files for approval—all in one place. This streamlined approach saves time, protects data and makes collaboration much easier.

Reimagining the Public Access Link (PAL)

The FOIAXpress PAL is like the front door to FOIA requests—it’s an online portal where members of the public can enter requests, submit payment, and track the status of their requests. In 2025, PAL is getting a redesign to make it more intuitive for requesters and more helpful for FOIA officers.

The biggest update for FOIA staff will be around backlog reduction. A key element of the redesign centers on establishing a reading room or public library of frequently requested files. This guides the public away from creating a new request by suggesting matches that have already been published to the reading room as they fill out additional information.

For the public, the upgraded PAL will provide step-by-step guidance for submitting a FOIA request and a tracker to monitor progress, reducing update requests in your inbox. No more wondering if their request is stuck in someone’s inbox—it’s all automatically updated. The added benefit to agencies is fewer bot requests, less vague request descriptions, elimination of privacy act requests mistakenly submitted as FOIA requests, and no submissions to the wrong organization.

Another big change will be the ease in which PAL integrates directly with case management systems, helping you organize requests right out of the gate.

Smarter, faster, more connected

In addition to these key updates, FOIAXpress is enhancing backend processes for faster performance, including quicker report generation and task execution.

The platform will also integrate more seamlessly with the tools your agency already uses, such as Relativity, Veritone, and Office 365. For example, with better connection to e-discovery platforms like Relativity, FOIAXpress will make it easier to share documents directly within workflows and eliminate manual transfers.

eCASE Audit and Investigations: Unified Tools for Unified Effort

eCASE is evolving in 2025 to streamline workflows for audit and investigation teams. By integrating data, processes, and tools, eCASE will make it easier to stay on top of cases and work more efficiently across departments.

A single dashboard for audits and investigation

For teams managing both audits and investigations, eCASE’s 2025 upgrades include a unified dashboard that brings everything into one view for leadership. It’s role-based permissions mean the right information in the right hands- and out of the wrong ones. No more toggling between platforms or manually connecting information.

Streamlined citizen communication

Our new complaint status tracker will provide citizens with real-time updates, so they can easily check their complaint statuses. This feature will reduce follow-up inquiries and build trust.

Error messages are getting smarter

Instead of vague or technical alerts, users will now see messages that clearly explain the issue and provide actionable steps to resolve it. For example, if a submission fails due to missing information, the error message will specify which fields need attention, helping teams move forward without delays.

Workforce Management Suite: Connecting the Dots Across the Employee Experience

Government teams do their best work when their internal systems work together. That’s why the 2025 updates to our eCase Workforce Management Suite (WFM) are designed to simplify employee workflows and make it easier to manage the entire employee experience, from hiring to retirement, without all the usual headaches.

Connecting employee insights across applications

Picture this: you’re trying to track an employee’s case history, but the information is scattered across three different systems. With the new WFM Suite, all that data comes together in one streamlined view. Whether you’re handling performance reviews, leaving requests, or performing other HR tasks, you’ll have the full context at your fingertips—no more toggling between apps or chasing down missing details.

Streamlined Reasonable Accommodations and search functionality

The 2025 updates bring easier workflows, starting with the ability to trigger Reasonable Accommodations cases directly from the ER/LR application. This will eliminate friction and save time. Additionally, the redesigned search function will give more accurate results, so teams get the information they need—and get it fast.

Flexible permissioning: customizing access without the complexity

The new standard ER/LR reports bundle and enhanced permissioning capabilities are designed to give you more flexibility in customizing access levels, all while keeping compliance in check. It’s about making permission management simpler, so you can focus on getting the job done.

A Smarter Future for Government Work

Every 2025 update to the OPEXUS product suite is designed to simplify government operations and empower the teams that make it all happen.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we’re building—creating workspaces where teams can seamlessly collaborate to solve problems and deliver results.

Transparency plays an equally important role. Tools like the citizen-facing complaint tracker and the reimagined Public Access Link empower the public to stay informed while freeing up teams to focus on high-priority tasks.

And central to our approach is intelligent design—the thread that ties it all together. Features like in-portal redactions in FOIAXpress and unified dashboards across eCASE Audit and eCASE investigations are carefully crafted to remove friction, cut through noise, and keep the focus on the work that matters most.

OPEXUS 2025 isn’t just about upgrading tools—it’s about upgrading experiences. We’re equipping government teams with the cohesive solutions they need to face today’s challenges and rise to tomorrow’s opportunities.
